(East Moline, IL) -- John Deere plans on laying off a couple hundred employees.
An email from Deere and Company says the layoff will affect the workers at John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline.
Employees received the news Wednesday morning at the facility.
There are currently about 2,300 employees at the facility with just under 2,000 working in production and maintenance.
John Deere announced it will be laying off over 200 production employees effective October 16th.
