(Davenport, IA) -- Davenport Mayor Mike Matson will ask City Council to appoint a temporary 7th ward alderman next week. Retired electrical engineer Chris Jerome has been chosen by the mayor to fill the seat. Council removed Derek Cornette from office last week. He was accused of harassment of female city staff, and being intoxicated at meetings. Cornette is suing the city over his dismissal. Jerome would serve until voters go to the polls to elect a new 7th Ward alderman on November 7th.
