(Davenport, IL) -- Trees are starting to put on their fall color show in parts of Iowa, not so much yet in Illinois.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says leaves are turning early in northeast Iowa due to extreme drought conditions.
It's less severe in northern Illinois, with moderate drought conditions.
According to a recent fall color report from the Iowa DNR, vibrant colors can be seen from trees such as sugar maple, sumac, Virginia creeper, ash, walnut, basswood and cottonwood.
The DNR says estimated peak viewing time will be from October 5th through the 10th in northeastern Iowa.
