(Rock Island, IL) -- Rock Island's finance director is retiring.
Linda Barnes' last day was last Friday, October 27th, after working with the finance department for more than 20 years.
Barnes began working with local governments in 1988 in Scott County.
She then started in Rock Island as a fiscal technician in 2001 before being promoted several times.
In 2020, Barnes was appointed interim finance director, then in 2021, became the finance director.
There will be an interim director appointed while the city searches for her replacement.
