We all have it - that favorite Christmas gift we received as a child.
My favorite gift combined two prominent features in my life: my love of music and my desire to be a "DJ."
It was a portable 8-track player.
Yep - before "boom boxes" became popular, this 70s kid was hauling his portable 8-track player to the playground to DJ for his fellow classmates. And I do mean, "haul." The thing require 8 D-size batteries! It was HEAVY! And it sucked the power out of those batteries. For quite a while, my entire allowance went to new batteries with the occasional new 8-track purchase.
My parents gave me my first two 8-tracks with the player: "Destroyer" by KISS and "Cat Scratch Fever" by Ted Nugent. To this day, I listen to cuts from those beloved 8-tracks all the time.
