(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- There will be new traffic changes in the Coralville area starting today.
The Iowa Department of Transportation says the southbound 1st Avenue right turn lane to the westbound I-80 on ramp will be shifted adjacent to the southbound 1st Avenue through lane.
Residents will have to make a right turn at the traffic signal to drive west on I-80.
The road changes are part of the DOT's plan to make the I-80 exit 242 and 1st Avenue into a diverging diamond interchange.
The project is expected to be completed in mid-April of next year.
