(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Police are releasing some more details about a body found this (Thursday) morning on the city's southwest side. Police say a Des Moines Public Works employee spotted a woman's body just before 8:30 this morning in a wooded area near SW 42nd and Willow Creek Avenue, west of the Des Moines International Airport.
Police closed off part of the Great Western Recreational Trail as they investigated. The trail has since reopened.
Police say there is no ongoing immediate danger to the public.
The Polk County Medical Examiners Office will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death.
