(Moline, IL) -- The city of Moline says it failed to capitalize on making hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax revenue from marijuana sales following the opening of the city's second cannabis dispensary.

After the city's 2nd location opened Friday, Revolution Dispensary, Moline officials say they missed out on making about $300,000 to $500,000 after failing to file a dispensary tax ordinance with the state after the first dispensary opened in July.

The major of Moline, Sangeetha Rayapati, says her family would have mentioned the situation as a shame.

The city is finding out if the state can backpay the lost money.
