(Hampton, IL) -- The Rock Island County Sheriff's Office is now roaming the Hampton area.
On Monday, the town's board voted to disband the Hampton Police Department.
The police department will now be an outpost for the Rock Island County Sheriff's department, and all calls will be sent to them.
Hampton's board and sheriff's office are negotiating a long-term contract for police services.
In the meantime, about a half dozen deputies will be in Hampton.
