(Ames, IA) -- A 16-year-old Iowa teen is charged with reckless driving after getting clocked going 111 miles-per-hour on New Years' Eve.
Iowa State Patrol says they pulled over the driver along with two passengers after they nearly near-ended another State Trooper south of Ames on I-35.
The driver's excuse is that they were running late to a New Years' Eve party.
ISP says it's important to remind your teen of the importance of responsible driving habits.
