(Vinton, IA) -- One person is dead after a shooting inside a home in Benton County.
Investigators say the Benton County Sherriff's Office received reports of the shooting around 10:30pm on December 30th. A 59 year-old woman was shot during the incident and taken to an area hospital in a private vehicle. When deputies responded to a rural home south of Vinton, they found an 89 year-old man also suffering from a gunshot wound. He later died of a his injuries.
Neither the man's nor woman's name has been released, and the shooting is still under investigation.
