(Rock Island, IL) -- Prosecutors will ask for a five-year sentence for the mother of a Rock Island, Illinois boy whose body was found in the family's garage last summer.
38 year-old Sushi Staples is pleading guilty to a charge of endangering the life of a child.
Investigators determined that her son, 10 year-old Zion Staples, died from an accidental gunshot wound in December 2022.
They say his mother hid his body so she could continue to collect benefits.
Staples will be sentenced February 16th.
