Iowa's Produce Growers Prefer To Be Called Farmers

(Ames, IA) -- It turns out the people who raise Iowa’s crops and livestock prefer to be called farmers.

That's one of the results of the 2023 Iowa Farm and Rural Life Poll conducted by Iowa State University Extension.

75% of poll respondents preferred the term farmer over producer, grower, or rancher.

Other issues this year’s poll examined included climate change, soil and water conservation, woodland management, and markets for non-GMO corn.
