The Nebraska State Patrol says troopers arrested a western Iowa man following a pursuit in Omaha.
The NSP says at approximately 1:40 a.m. Friday, a trooper saw a westbound Dodge Durango speeding on Interstate 80 near 60th Street in Omaha.
The trooper attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to yield and accelerated, with the trooper pursuing.
The Patrol says the vehicle exited I-80 at 84th Street, crossed the median, lost a tire, and re-entered I-80 westbound at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle again exited I-80, this time at 144th Street, where the driver turned it around and re-entered eastbound I-80.
As the suspect vehicle reached the downtown Omaha area, it entered I-480 northbound.
The Durango then exited and re-entered I-480 numerous times, running red lights on surface streets.
NSP says the driver then re-entered I-480 toward Iowa, but just before the Missouri River bridge, the vehicle hit a patch of ice, went out of control, and crashed into a concrete barrier.
Troopers say 51-year old William Ganzhorn of Woodbine, Iowa was then arrested and taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers say Ganzhorn was cited for flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, fictitious license plate, and numerous traffic violations.
