(Des Moines, IA) -- Recent issues at Davenport City Hall may result in changes to Iowa's Open Meetings Law.

The Iowa House has passed a bill to increase penalties for Open Meetings Law violations, and mandate training for public officials.

In a Quad City Times report, Representative Gary Mohr from Bettendorf says issues obtaining records from Davenport about the apartment building collapse last May, and the lack of a public vote for a 1.6-million dollar payout to Davenport's former city administrator, led him to propose the changes.

Iowa State Auditor Rob Sands is currently investigating the circumstances regarding the payout to the former city administrator.
