(Marion, IA) -- Three people are now charged in connection with the death of 20-year-old Melody Hoffman
Eighteen-year-old Logan Kimpton of Hiawatha has been charged with conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.
Hoffman's former boyfriend, 23-year-old McKinley Louisma, and 18-year-old Dakota Van Patten, are charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony.
Police say Kimpton was with the other two suspects when they bought a machete from a Walmart in Cedar Rapids, but didn't participate in Hoffman's kidnapping and murder.
