(Davenport, IA) -- Over 50 Iowa counties are under a red flag warning today. Conditions are extremely hazardous for prairie fires to develop across the state.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Andy Ervin says near record temperatures, strong south winds, low humidity, and extremely dry vegetation led to the warning. The warning is in effect until 6pm Monday.
Ervin recommends waiting to burn anything until the warm spell subsides next week.
