(Rock Island, IL) -- The Rock Island City Council is expected to fill the third ward's vacant seat today.
Mayor Mike Thoms nominated Kevin Maynard to the office on Friday, February 23, to fill the opening left by former alderwoman Judith Gilbert when she retired in January.
If the council approves the nomination, Maynard will fill the position until April 2025.
Maynard currently serves as the executive director of Quad Cities Arts in Rock Island.
