(Omaha, NE) -- The Tuesday rains are welcome for many reasons, including being a big help for Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro area firefighters who have been dealing with wildfires in the area.
Crescent and Lewis Township firefighters have been spending days working to stamp out a number of brush fires near Interstate 29 in Council Bluffs.
A fire has been smoldering along the Missouri River "narrows" opposite Eppley Airfield.
Other smoldering fires have popped up downriver over the past couple of weeks, including one on the Iowa side near the Veterans Memorial Bridge.
