Creighton Announces Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

(Omaha, NE) -- The Creighton men's basketball team is welcoming back a former graduate manager. Trey Zeigler has been named an assistant coach. Zeigler worked for Creighton during the 2022-2023 season. The Bluejays finished the 2023-24 season with a 25-10 record. Creighton was ranked 10th in the year-end USA Today Coaches poll.

“I’m extremely excited to be back at Creighton,” said Zeigler. “Coach McDermott and the rest of the staff continue to elevate this program. I am honored to be part of a great staff and come back to a place I consider a second home.”

“I’m excited to welcome Trey back to Omaha,” said Coach Greg McDermott. “He was instrumental in the development of our roster during his time on our coaching staff. His work ethic and ability to connect with people was exactly what I was looking for. The youthful energy and knowledge of our system and style of play, will allow for a smooth transition. “

Zeigler is a TCU graduate, who played professionally in Europe for several seasons.

Zeigler graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Mount Pleasant, Michigan in 2010. Zeigler scored 1,644 points and grabbed 648 rebounds in his prep career. He averaged 24.3 points and 10.5 rebounds per game as a senior and finished second in the Michigan "Mr. Basketball" voting. He was named to the Third Team All-American by MaxPreps.com. Coming out of high school, Zeigler was a consensus top 30 player.

Zeigler replaces Jalen Courtney-Williams on the Creighton staff. Courtney-Williams has taken a job with LSU.
