IOWA CITY, Iowa -- One of the long-time radio voices of Iowa football is stepping away from the microphone.
Ed Podolak says he's retiring as color analyst for Hawkeye football after 42 years on the air.
The Atlantic, Iowa native, starred at quarterback and running back for the Hawkeyes in the late 60’s.
Podolak was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in 1969 and won a Super Bowl in 1970.
He joined the Iowa football radio broadcast in 1982.
Podolak says he will still offer analysis during Hawkeyes football pregame shows and work on podcasts.
The University of Iowa says Hawkeye Sports Properties, in conjunction with the UI Athletics Department, will begin a search for Podolak’s replacement this spring.
