National Weather Service Meteorologists at the Omaha Office in Valley forecast a number of rounds of showers and thunderstorms beginning Thursday and going through the weekend.
They say widespread thunderstorms will arrive Thursday night with localized flooding possible across much of the area.
The greatest severe threat is expected over southeast Nebraska.
The weather service says a second round of thunderstorms will come in Friday afternoon and evening.
Severe weather, including large hail, strong wind gusts, and a few tornadoes, is possible across much of eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa, with the greatest risk for flooding being from the northeast part of Nebraska into southwest Iowa.
The Omaha forecasters say a fourth round of thunderstorms could develop Sunday afternoon, with the greatest severe weather threat in far southeast Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
