(Council Bluffs, IA) -- One person is confirmed dead after the tornado that struck Minden, Iowa on Friday. The Pottawattamie County Emergency Management Agency reports the person died in the hospital overnight. The victim was one of four people hurt in the at least 80 tornadoes that swept through Nebraska and Iowa. 40 percent of the homes in Minden were destroyed.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for Pottawattamie County. On Saturday, Reynolds traveled to Minden to view the devastation and speak with area leaders and residents.
