(Denison, IA) -- An investigation is underway after a man in custody in western Iowa died. Denison Police say officers arrested a 61-year-old man for public intoxication Sunday night. Monday morning, jail staff discovered the man was unresponsive. Staff, deputies and EMS performed CPR on the man, but he later died at Denison hospital.
The man was identified by a family member as Abraham Gatwech Ngor of Denison. A forensic autopsy has been scheduled for May 8, 2024, at the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner in Ankeny, Iowa.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office requested the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to investigate the death of Ngor.
