The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services says an investigation continues and reports will be forwarded to the Lancaster County Attorney, who will make a charging decision, after a staff member at the Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln sustained a serious injury in an inmate assault.
Corrections says the assault happened a week ago, when a staff member was escorting an inmate to his cell.
They say while the staff member was removing a leg restraint, the inmate kicked the staff member in the head and chest.
Corrections says the staff member received an initial medical examination and this week was diagnosed with a concussion.
They say disciplinary rules will be followed with sanctions such as loss of good time applied according to the regulations.
