(Kewanee, IL) -- The sentencing hearing for the man found guilty of killing a Knox County Sheriff's deputy is being delayed.

Daylon Richardson was supposed to be sentenced May 24th for fatally running over deputy Nick Weist during a 2022 police chase.

His sentencing has now been pushed to August after his lawyer objected to the mandatory life sentence Richardson faces.

Richardson was found guilty of running over Weist while he was laying out spike strips to try to stop Richardson's vehicle.
