(Des Moines, IA) -- Smoke from Canadian wildfires that impacted air-quality throughout the Midwest last summer is back in Central Iowa today.

The EPA Smoke Monitor reports air quality in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range in Des Moines and Ames this morning, and Moderate in Cedar Rapids. There are steps you can take to limit your exposure.

Wanda Reiter Kintz with Linn County Health tells Iowa's News Now that people should run their HVAC units in their homes, and avoid being outside.

Those who have to work outdoors have options too. Reiter Kintz suggests taking more frequent breaks, or working a later shift as smoke usually dissipates later in the day.
