(Lincoln, NE) -- Flags in Nebraska are at half-staff today in observance of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen says "During Police Week, and especially today on Peace Officers Memorial day, we recognize the tremendous sacrifice made by those men and women who have given their lives in the line of duty. We acknowledge their sacrifices and those of their family members, who continue to mourn their loss."

Governor Pillen will speak at a state Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony Friday at 10:00 a.m. in Grand Island.

During the ceremony, the names of three law enforcement officers will be added to the wall of remembrance.

The Memorial Day is celebrated during Police Week, which started on Monday morning with Gov. Pillen giving an address to members of the law enforcement community at Nebraska's Offutt Air Force Base.
