(Douglas County, NE) -- A Douglas County inmate has died. Community Corrections officials say 59-year-old Douglas Dowding died Sunday at an Omaha hospital. Dowding had been serving up to 50 years for kidnapping and attempted first degree sexual assault out of Douglas County. He was also serving time for theft and drug convictions out of Sarpy County.
No cause of death has been given, but officials say Dowding was being treated for a medical condition.
A grand jury will investigate his death, which is standard policy whenever an inmate dies in custody.
