(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A court reporter shortage in Iowa is causing delays in court trials and hearings.
The Cedar Rapids District only has eight of their 20 court reporter positions filled.
Stenograph court reporters are responsible for typing up court hearings, with some that can type up to 225 words-per-minute.
The shortages are due to retirement of experienced court reporters.
