(Iowa) -- The American Red Cross says it's in critical need of blood and platelet donations after an increase in severe weather.
Iowa's News Now reports the Red Cross has had 20,000 fewer blood donations in the past month than it needs to keep its national blood supply.
The Red Cross has been providing support in Iowa after recent severe weather, there have been 85 tornadoes so far this year.
Donation appointments can be made downloading the American Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
All blood types are needed.
