(Des Moines, IA) -- There's an update on a Des Moines shooting last weekend. Police say one of those injured, 34-year-old Courtany Mundy-Gonzalez of Des Moines, died June 6, 2024. Two 19-year-old men remain hospitalized in serious condition after the shooting at Greenwood-Ashworth Park on 45th Street.
Officers were called to the park at 1:30 Sunday, June 2nd, and found Courtany Mundy-Gonzalez in the parking lot suffering from gunshot injury and additional injuries received after being struck by a vehicle.
Officers and bystanders performed lifesaving measures, including CPR. Des Moines Fire Department medics continued those efforts and transported her to Unitypoint - Methodist Medical Center.
Police say a short time later, two more injured persons arrived at MercyOne Medical Center by private vehicles. Both were suffering from gunshot injury that they received at the Ashworth Park scene.
Police say the case is now being investigated as the city's 5th homicide of the year.
