(Cambridge, IL) -- The man convicted of killing a Knox County Sheriff's Deputy is objecting to the mandatory natural life sentence he faces.

Daylon Richardson's attorney made the objection during a hearing in Henry County Court yesterday.

A judge determined Richardson will undergo a neurophysiology evaluation ahead of his August 9th sentencing hearing.

Richardson was found guilty of murder in February.

Prosecutors say he was being chased by law enforcement when he hit and killed Deputy Sheriff Nick Weist in 2022.
