Man in Custody After Barricading Himself in Marion Apartment

(Marion, IA) -- A man is in custody after barricading himself in an apartment in Marion Tuesday morning.

Marion Police say officers responded to reports of a break-in a little after 5:30am. When officers arrived, they identified the suspect as 32 year-old Nathan Dampier. Investigators say he'd broken into an apartment, and in doing so, violated a no-contact order. He then barricaded himself inside.

Police negotiated with him for roughly two hours when he surrendered and was taken into custody. He's facing multiple charges.
