The 10-Year-Old Boy Who Drowned At Lake Potter Is Identified

(Rock Island, IL) -- The ten-year-old boy who died after drowning in Lake Potter in Rock Island has been identified.

The Rock Island County Coroner has determined 10-year-old John Moo of Rock Island's cause of death was drowning, and determined it as accidental.

First responders say four children were swimming at Sunset Park at around 1:30 p.m. Monday when they became distressed.

Three were able to make it back to shore.

Rescue crews eventually recovered the body of the missing child.

The other three children were sent to the hospital, where their conditions are unknown.

The Rock Island-Milan School District says support services will be available Thursday and Friday at Edison Junior High from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

10-year-old John Moo had just finished 5th grade at Earl Hanson Elementary School.
