Iowa's Unemployment Rate Unchanged From April

(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa's unemployment rate is unchanged from April at 2.8%.

Iowa Workforce Development Director Beth Townsend says "The sectors that we have seen the most growth in May was in education and healthcare, which gained 1,400 jobs."

She says they also saw an increase of 500 jobs in leisure and hospitality.

Professional and business services saw the biggest losses.

The Labor Force Participation Rate fell to 66.7%, a drop from 66.8% in April.

Townsend says hiring was down in many industries except healthcare.
