(Johnston, IA) -- Johnston Police are investigating vandalism cases at Dewey and Pointe Vista Park. Police say fireworks damaged the interior of a portable toilet and burned contents of a garbage can. The city is asking anyone who knows anything about the vandalism cases to call the non-emergency number at Johnston PD: 515-278-2345.
Police remind residents that using fireworks within city limits is illegal.
Police are increasing efforts to patrol parks as the 4th of July approaches. Extra cameras will be installed to ensure the safety of our parks.
