(Iowa City, IA) -- Starting Monday, parking fees in Iowa City will double at parking ramps
The price will now be two dollars at most ramps, and two-25 at two others.
Metered parking downtown will increase to three dollars an hour. The first hour remains free.
Iowa City Council approved the increase to make parking operations self-funding.
The expected annual revenue increase of three million dollars will support enhanced cleaning, and help subsidize fare-free bus service.
