(Des Moines, IA) -- The Des Moines Blank Park Zoo has a new exhibit with reptiles, amphibians and insects in the Myron and Jackie Blank Discovery Center.
Among the new animals includes a Jamaican Boa, an axolotl, an arboreal alligator lizard, green mantillas, Golfodulcean poison dart frogs, Madagascar hissing cockroaches and an emperor scorpion.
“It’s always exciting to add additional experiences for our guests and an opportunity to work with additional reptiles, amphibians and insects here at Blank Park Zoo,” said Dana Lain, aquatics supervisor. “Another feature of this exhibit allows us to rotate additional animals so guests can see something different on return visits.”
In addition to this new exhibit wall, the Zoo is also announcing several other new animal additions to the Discovery Center, a Fiji banded iguana, a prehensile tail skink, and the hatching of a pheasant pigeon chick.
These animals are currently available for viewing daily, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. including the Independence Day holiday.
