Cedar Rapids Firefighter Injured After 30-Foot Fall

(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A Cedar Rapids firefighter is in the hospital after falling 30-feet while fighting a fire. Crews were called to the former Diamond V Mills site at 436 G Avenue NW this (Friday) morning. The Department says when fire crews arrived, people were seen evacuating the building. The city boarded up the building a couple of weeks ago. The firefighter has serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire was “under-control” by 7:48a.m. No one else was located during the search or firefighting operations. 

 The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

 Marion Fire, Hiawatha Fire, Area Ambulance, and private utility companies also responded this morning.
