(Cedar Rapids, IA) -- A Cedar Rapids firefighter was hospitalized after falling 30 feet from an industrial building.
The firefighter was searching for victims inside a burning building when he fell down an elevator shaft.
He was found by other firefighters when he issued a Mayday call. The Fire Chief said it was his first Mayday call during an active fire in his career.
His injuries are severe but not life-threatening.
The fire was caused by human activity, and a second fire occurred at the same location on Monday.
