(Sarpy County, NE) -- The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office is trying to identify two suspects involved in a vehicle theft, attempted vehicle theft, and use of a weapon to commit a felony in Springfield last Thursday, after 2 a.m. Investigators says the armed men, one black and one white, wore black face masks.

The Sarpy County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the area of Fourth Street and Chestnut Street in Springfield for a report of an attempted vehicle theft. The victim stated that he heard his Ford F-250 truck start in the driveway and confronted the suspect, who was in the driver's seat. The suspect pointed a black handgun at the victim, who retreated into his residence.

Investigators say the suspect then exited the truck, entered a white Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Ford Explorer parked on the street, and drove away. An additional white Ford Explorer followed the BNSF vehicle from the scene.

Deputies in western Sarpy County attempted a traffic stop near Nebraska Crossing Outlet malls on a white BNSF vehicle, but the vehicle fled. During the investigation, deputies learned that the additional white Ford Explorer that followed the BNSF vehicle had been stolen from a nearby house on Chestnut Street.

The BNSF vehicle was later found abandoned with front-end damage at Highway 6 and 220th Street.

Investigators determined that the vehicle had been stolen from a house in northern Springfield.

The additional white Ford Explorer is still missing.

Suspect 1: White male wearing a black face mask and green sweatshirt, seated in the passenger seat.

Suspect 2: Black male wearing a black face mask and white sweatshirt, seated in the driver's seat.

The driver later removes the face mask and sweatshirt while driving. Both suspects were seen with handguns.
