(Rock Island, IL) -- Rock Island is saying goodbye to one of its longest serving firefighters.
The city says Assistant Fire Chief Terry Smith is retiring.
Smith spent 28 years with the Rock Island Fire Department.
He says he's not getting out of the game entirely. Smith plans on volunteering with the Moline Second Alarmers--a group that assists area departments with fire scene air-tank refills, and heat relief services.
