(Dubuque, IA) -- A Dubuque County man convicted of murder still refuses to acknowledge the outcome of his trial.

A jury found Tyler Dazey of Dubuque guilty of the first-degree murder of his mother Jen after just two hours of deliberation on Friday.

Dazey suggested in a letter to the court that he doesn't recognize its authority over him.

Dazey had told Police he killed his mother and her dog because he believed they were witches.

A date for a sentencing hearing hasn't been set. Dazey faces life in prison.
