(Alexis, IL) -- Residents near Alexis in Mercer County are concerned a new neighbor will ruin the character of the area.
The Mercer County Zoning Board of Appeals is approving an application for a 249-acre solar farm just north of the village.
The St. Louis company building the solar farm has reduced its size by 100 acres, and says it will work with neighbors to minimize the facilities impact on the area.
Construction of the solar farm will take place in 2026.
