(Waterloo, IA) -- Waterloo's two high schools may soon be merging.

Waterloo's School Board voted to move East and West into a single new school on the current Central Middle School site in 2028.

The two existing high schools would become middle schools under the $165-million dollar plan.

Opponents have until August 12th to file a petition to force a public vote on the plan. The petition would require 23-hundred signatures.
