The Omaha National Weather Service Office in Valley says excessive heat potential is expected for Wednesday afternoon.
Temperatures near 100 degrees and high dew points will have heat indices from 100 to 105 in the advisory area, and 110-115 in the excessive heat warning area .
The forecasters say there is also the potential for afternoon thunderstorms to develop.
If these develop earlier than anticipated, it will keep the hottest temperatures to the south.
One more day of hot temperatures before a cold front pushes through, bringing afternoon heat indices into the weekend as much as 25 degrees lower.
