(Iowa City, IA) -- A former Iowa City police officer is suing the city.
Emilio Puente is seeking unspecified damages alleging racial discrimination during his three years on the force.
Puente says he was forced to resign in 2022 after being injured during a chase the department later claimed resulted in an excessive-force complaint against him.
The city attorney isn't commenting on the lawsuit.
