(Earlham, IA) -- A team of Iowa minor league baseball players are OK after their charter bus caught fire on the way to a game this morning.
The Sioux City Explorers were on their way to a three-game series in Geneva, Illinois when their bus caught fire at around 2:45 a.m. off interstate-80 near Earlham west of Des Moines.
The Earlham Fire Department says the bus had experienced mechanical issues, causing a fire which quickly spread to the engine and passenger compartment.
No one was injured and another charter bus arrived at around 5:45 a.m. to pick up the team.
The highway between Earlham and I-80 was closed for about three hours as crews were at the scene.
The bus is considered a total loss.
