(Davenport, IA) -- A facility responsible for cleaning the Iowa Quad Cities wastewater is getting an upgrade.

Davenport's Regional Water Pollution Control Plant will undergo a 51-million-dollar facelift.

Brian Schadt, Davenport City Engineer, tells WQAD News 8 that the project is expected to take five to ten years to complete. He says it will help them meet their goal of putting treated water back into the Mississippi that is cleaner than the river itself.

The money comes from sewer fees in the participating municipalities.
